A Celebrant's tips for a second wedding
Do you know the song?
Love is lovelier the second time around.
Your wedding can be as big or small as you want. You may not have the wedding of your dreams the first time round, now is your chance to make it happen. So if this is the case, go for it. You don’t want to regret that you didn’t.
You may have had your Dad walk you down the aisle the first time, may be have children who want to share in your day and one of them could do the “honours”. Another person who could walk you down the aisle is your Mum. She will be proud to be able to do this.
Do the legal bit in a registry and just have two witnesses. Celebrate later with family and friends may be on a week day or late in the afternoon. A celebrant will be happy to officiate any day, any time.
Your wedding doesn’t have to follow traditional lines. A celebrant will be able to make your ceremony that little bit special. Helping to write your vows or promises. A celebrant is happy to perform the ceremony anywhere. You don’t have to have the ceremony inside. How about a rustic feel, a more relaxed style.
Want to wear a white dress but don’t feel that is quite right. Then choose a dress with some splashes of colour in it.
Choose to do things a little differently. Don’t have a top table. Have a table for just the two of you, with family and friends on round tables nearby. What about having a brunch instead of a wedding breakfast. How different is that?
It may be your second wedding but your partner’s first. He or she may wish to have something traditional, may be something you had the first time. Talk it over and decide what you both would like.
Most of all be happy. You deserve it.
